Bar-hoppers take note: “Cheers” is not the only game in town. If you are wandering through South Boston and are feeling a little parched, stop in at Woody's L Street Tavern. You may find yourself rubbing elbows with the likes of Southie favorites Ben Affleck or Matt Damon. This is the tavern featured in the movie “Good Will Hunting” which shot the two then-unknown actors into superstardom. The bar has enjoyed its brush with fame but it is mostly frequented by locals. The beer is good, very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is strictly neighborhood – no Hollywood glitz here. Although Affleck, escorting then-fiance Jennifer Lopez, did roll up in a silver Bentley one day to chat with the staff and patrons. The tavern is at 658A E 8th Street in South Boston.
