January 5, 2007, Newsletter Issue #63: Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market

Tip of the Week

In 1742, Faneuil Hall was built as a gift to the city of Boston by one of its wealthiest merchants, Peter Faneuil. The Hall became famous for hosting famous speakers like Oliver Wendell Holmes and Samuel Adams. With hopes of accommodating more merchants, businesses and shoppers, Quincy Market was built in 1826. Some 250 years later, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market continue to be a gathering center for visitors and Bostonians alike with great shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
